2016 NBA Draft

Boston Celtics fans haven't seen a draft of this consequence since the Len Bias draft of 1986. The Celtics had taken Bias with the No. 2 overall pick that year. Coming off a season where they finished with a record of 67-15, good for 1st in the Atlantic Division, the Celtics were then coached by K.C. Jones and in the luxurious position to add to their already complete team.

This years' Brad Stevens led squad is currently 40-30, good for 2nd place in the Atlantic Division. While this roster isn't complete, it is as close to complete as it has been since the most recent incarnation of the "Big Three." There aren't any untouchable players on the roster, but there are plenty of solid pieces to build around and enough attractive contracts to be in the drivers seat when it is time to make something happen. Danny Ainge, who was a player on that 86' team, is now the President of Basketball Operations and is in the luxurious position to be calling the shots on a top five pick this June. Each of the consensus top five prospects available come with their own pros and cons. But who fits best on the Celtics? What other needs might we be able to fill this June?

If they hold onto them all, the Celtics have eight picks in this June's NBA Draft (three in the first round). It is my opinion that the players in this years draft most likely to make an immediate impact play the wing positions. Controlling up to eight picks, the C's will have the opportunity to improve a number of positions while still having room to gamble on prospects.

This blog is an attempt to get all the basketball stuff out of my head and into a bullpen where folks can weigh in on what the hometown team should do. I know I have an opinion. What say you?
